Photo Of The Month - March 2006

Photo Number 6925P

Many people don't realize that Healdsburg was badly damaged by the San Francisco earthquake of April, 1906.  To recognize the 100th anniversary of this event, the Photos of the Month for March & April will show some of that Healdsburg damage.

Matheson Street earthquake damage. The note below the picture reads, "Furniture store and Odd Fellows Bldg Healdsburg after April 18, l906"

(The Odd Fellows Building was on the southeast corner of Matheson and West Streets. West Street is now Healdsburg Ave.  The Brandt Building is currently on that corner.)

Writing on the rear of photo reads "found and given by Aretica (sp?) Folger, Felta Creek, May 13, 1954"

Original severely damaged and mildewed.

The Museum has a large collection of Historical photos.  For more information contact the museum.
