In keeping with the fact that it's September and the local harvest season will soon be here, this month's photo depicts a Harvest Festival event.  The notes on the rear of the photo read:

The winner of a wine barrel race in the Russian River, believed to be Lillian Page, gets a victory dunking during the 1946 Harvest Festival with the help of Billie Jo Bennett Haley, one of the finalists. Other participants include Lenora Lewis and Diane Wolking standing to the left behind Haley. Local wine businessman Joe Vercelli, in white shirt sleeves on the right, was one of the race's sponsors.
