Description Cylindrical basket with lid and yellow Oriental patterned cloth lining. (Lid damaged.)

42. A Plaited Asian Basket, Probably Philippines
Replacement Value: $100.
Dimensions: 8 inches in height.
Condition: Good with broken and repaired handle.
Estimated Date of Origin: 1900.

Description: This basket is twill plaited of a shiny fiber that may be palm leaf. The rounded lid originally was designed to slip upward with a handle strap that poked through two holes in the lid. The strap is broken and the interior of the weft strands is a visibly different color than the exterior surface.
