Description Coat; linen; duster; long below the knee; c. 1900-1920; would have been worn by passenger, probably lady, in auto or wagon.

This is a type of coat used by women to completely cover their garments to protect them from dust when riding in the new open autobus. Coat is full length, buttons in front, has a high neck and collar. Collar has rounded ends. Sleeves are long and are self cuffed with pointed ends fastened with two buttons facing each other. Front closes with 5 buttons from collar to below knees. Pockets are large with pocket flaps at sides. These are pointed at middle. There is a slung belt fastened at each side seam with buttons. Belt is removeable.
