OUR VISION
The Healdsburg Museum and Historical Society collects, protects, preserves, and interprets the artifacts, documents and photographs that trace the rich history of Healdsburg and surrounding area through exhibits, educational programs, scholarly discourse, historical research, and experiential workshops. We hold these objects in trust for present and future generations, understanding that the ties to our past, when woven with the experiences of our present, build the bridges to our future.
Museum Tours:
The Museum offers guided tours of all our exhibitions, led by staff or trained docents. Tours are free, although a donation is appreciated. A Spanish-speaking tour guide is available, if booked 2 weeks in advance. The second-floor gallery is accessible by elevator.
School groups will be welcomed as honored guests on a private tour with fun, age-appropriate "History Hunt" quizzes. Students on a History Hunt will be given 20 questions to answer about the exhibition, based on reading and looking at the displays. Teachers can assign the student pairs who will work together. The students will usually spend 20-25 minutes on the History Hunt, then the group sits on the floor to hear (and shout out) the correct answers to the questions. The school tours take about 50 minutes
Audio Tours:
The Museum offers audio tours with every exhibition, researched and written by Curator Holly Hoods and produced and recorded by Voice-over Narrator Elizabeth Holmes. The audio tours impart additional information and deeper historical context to the artifacts and photographs on display.
The Museum is closed for two weeks for interior renovation and installation of the new exhibit. We will reopen at 11:00 February 1st.
